| | Turkmen weightlifters qualify for Olympic Games in Beijing

| CA-NEWS (TM) - Two Turkmen weightlifters, masters of sports of international class Umurbek Bazarbayev and Tolkunbek Hudaybergenov, will represent Turkmenistan at the summer Olympic Games in Beijing. The Turkmen weightlifters have qualified for the Olympic Games - 2008 on results of the Asian championship in Japanese city of Kanazava where sportsmen competed for the last two passes for the Olympics, the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH) reports.
Athletes from 23 countries took part in the championship. 15 of them competed in the team championship for remaining passes for the Olympic Games 2008. Turkmenistan was represented by 8 sportsmen in six weight categories. Turkmen weightlifters sealed off the list of six best teams of the championship and came second in the competition for Olympic passes, 2 points behind Uzbekistan and 3 points ahead of Kyrgyzstan and Iraq.
The forthcoming Olympic Games in Beijing will be the third in a row for Umurbek Bazarbayev, 26, the winner of the 2004 world student championship and bronze medalist of the 2004 Asian championship. As for Tolunbek Hudaybergenov, 22, prize winner of various championships, he will participate in the Olympic Games for the first time.
