Kazakhstan decides not to leave United Energy System of Central Asia after negotiating with Kyrgyzstan - Vice Minister of Kyrgyzstan
25 January 2012, 11:15

CA-NEWS (KZ) - Kazakhstan planned to exit the parallel operation on January 20. In this regard, Kazakhstan sent Kyrgyzstan official letter with intention to withdraw from the United Energy System of Central Asia on January 16, Vice Energy Minister of Kyrgyzstan Avtandil Kalmambetov said today in Bishkek.

According to him, the issue can be resolved through the talks with representatives of KEGOC and Uzbekenergo in Astana.

If Kazakhstan exists the energy grid, Kyrgyzstan will have to introduce the restriction of 40% of energy per day on the north.

Head of National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan Medetbek Aitkulov expressed his hope that the withdrawal will not happen. "It was agreed that Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will work in accordance with the previously set regime during the last meeting in Tashkent on January 22," he said.

Emergency measures are impossible to take under the circumstances, according to Aitkulov .
