Appointments in new Government and other public bodies are over - Masimov

CA-NEWS (KZ) - Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov distributed the responsibilities for each of his Vices, Tengrinews.kz reported from the Government’s session.

First Vice Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov is in charge of daily management of the country’s economy, country regions development policy, the State-run Program of Accelerated Innovation-driven Industrial Development, industrial production, energy and power industry development, technical regulation of gold mining, as well as the country’s policy to secure bigger share of domestically produced goods and services in projects operated by international consortia.

"You will also be responsible for the agriculture, land and water management, environment, space industry, construction, transport infrastructure and logistics. You will be overseeing modernization of the housing stock, housing construction, agriculture development projects as well as management in emergency situations and defense industry development," Masimov said to Akhmetov.

Vice Prime Minister Erbol Orynbaev will be coordinating education, scientific research, social policy, public-private partnership projects, culture and sports.

"You will be overseeing small and middle-sized business, coordination of partnership between public bodies and business community, including foreign entities; administrative reforms; removing administrative barriers, including tax and customs administration; efforts to raise Kazakhstan’s notch in the World Bank’s Doing Business report. You will be also coordinating projects implemented by the World Bank, European Commission, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, US Chamber of Commerce. Besides, you will be in charge of the Business-2020 Roadmap Program and Employment 2020 Program," PM Masimov told his Vice Orynbaev.

Kairat Kelimbetov will be responsible for macroeconomic policy and budgeting policy issues, management of state assets, financial sector, tax and customs policy, development of the public-private partnership, including concession projects; natural monopolies control, as well as fair competition.

"You will be overseeing Kazakhstan’s accession into the World Trade Organization, cooperation within the EurAsEC, Customs Union and the Common Economic Space. Tomorrow’s sitting of the Eurasian Economic Committee to be held at the level of Vice Prime Ministers is your first stress test and an opportunity to defend the national interests," Masimov said when addressing to Kelimbetov.

Head of Government stressed that the reshuffle is over. "All the appointments in the Government and other public bodies are over. All the staffing issues have been resolved. Now we have to work on tasks set by Head of State," Masimov summed up.
