Turkmenistan approves regulation on CEC

CA-NEWS (TM) - Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov signed a decree approving the state of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan.

The document said that the measures are taken to further improve the activities of the Central Commission and in accordance with the law.


United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) provides certain assistance in this area by increasing the capacity of the electoral commissions' members through BRIDGE training (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections).


UNDP Turkmenistan in cooperation with National Institute of Democracy and Human Rights and Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan is implementing the project "Enhancing Electoral System and Process in Turkmenistan". Under the capacity building component of the ongoing project UNDP conducted the pilot BRIDGE workshop for the electoral officials of Turkmenistan.
