CA-NEWS (TJ) - Tajikistan to provide humanitarian aid to flood victims in Pakistan, said the press office of President Emomalii Rahmon. The Head of State instructed to allocate 80 tonnes of food, 100 tents, one thousand sets of children's clothing, 1.3 thousand blankets and other essential household items.
As a result of severe flooding in Pakistan 1.2 million homes were destroyed, the number of victims exceeds 1.5 million people, more than 1.7 thousand killed and 2 thousand 632 people were injured. According to the Government of Pakistan, the damage from the disaster amounted to $ 23 billion.
During the meeting of the President of Tajikistan and the Ambassador of Pakistan Khalid Usmon Qaisar on September 4 the parties also discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, noted the press service.
The Ambassador conveyed invitation of Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to visit the country on an official visit to the Tajik President.
