CA-NEWS (TM) - On September 3, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov signed a decree pardoning 3 thousand 999 persons sentenced to imprisonment including foreign nationals who have committed crimes on the territory of Turkmenistan. The document orders that pardoned convicts should be freed from serving their principal punishment, as well as from additional penalty in the form of imposed duty to live in a particular locality.
As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat, according to the presidential decree, this large-scale humane action will be held on the eve of Gadyr Gijesi (Night of Omnipotence) - one of the main nights of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. This year Gadyr Gijesi falls on the night of 5 to 6 September.
