Russian company to modernize carbamide production in Uzbekistan

CA-NEWS (UZ) - Research and Design Institute of Carbamide and Organic Synthesis Products (NIIK, Russia) joint stock company won a tender for modernization and technical re-equipment of carbamide production plant at Maxam-Chirchiq joint stock company.

State company Toshconsultingstroytorg of Tashkent regional administration organized the tender. The contract with the Customer will be signed soon.

According to tender terms, NIIK will be in charge of the whole scope of works - from idea development and basic design to commissioning works and guarantee tests.

Equipment supply, arrangement of construction-assembly works have to be executed by Russian institute in tight schedule. The deadline is defined as December 2011. The project will help Maxam-Chirchiq to increase carbamide production from 170,000 tonnes to 270,000 tonnes.

Before the tender, NIIK and Uzbekistani companies carried out a large scope of works on risk estimation, technical and economical feasibility of the project.

Maxam-Chirchiq OJSC, former Elektrohimprom, was commissioned in 1940 and specializes on production of ammonia, ammonium nitrate, and carbamide. MaxamCorp S.A.U. purchased 49% stake at Elektrohimprom for US$22 million in 2007. The company undertook obligation to invest US$55 million in next five years.

Maxam-Chirchiq is leading chemical enterprises in Uzbekistan, which produces 30 types of goods. The company realizes its products in internal market and exports to the countries of the CIS, European Union, USA, Latin America, and Australia.
