Uzbekistan adopts programme on development of poultry industry

CA-NEWS (UZ) - Uzbekistan is realizing a state program on development of poultry industry for 2010-2015, deputy chairperson of the Parrandasanoat (Poultry Industry) Association Pulat Rakhmatullaev said in interview to Pravda Vostoka newspaper.

The newspaper said that the program implementation will allow saturate market with poultry product and increase production volume of the industry's large enterprises, as well as create new farms.

Pulat Rakhmatullaev said that the program is aimed at using of potential of the industry's enterprise fully, creating new ones and assisting rural population in employment. He said that 344 entities were created in 2010, which allowed to provide jobs to 2,000 people. He added that it is also planned to create shops on processing products and specialized shops on poultry meat and eggs.

Rakhmatullaev underlined that the wide-scale work just started, but it already gave its first fruits. Number of poultry in Uzbekistan rose to 33 million heads, which is up by 12% year-on-year. He said it is planned that the number of poultry will grow by 12% and to 60 million by 2015.

He said two-three farm entities with 5,000-10,000 hens are created in each district of Uzbekistan. About 40 billion soums were allocated to this purpose.

Currently, the poultry industry imports equipments from Ukraine, Italy and France. However, the industry is working to localize production of these equipments in Uzbekistan.
