Logistics manager of Nizhny Novgorod plant becomes godmother of "Dzheykhun" tanker
3 September 2010, 15:19

CA-NEWS (TM) - Marina Chistyakova, an inventory specialist at "Red Sormovo" shipyard (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) became godmother of the new oil tanker "Dzheykhun" built at the shipyard on the order of Turkmenistan.

According to today's "Nizhny Novgorod Worker" newspaper, it turned out right before the start of the vessel's ceremonial launch that a godmother chosen by the Turkmen side, who was supposed to break a bottle of champagne against the vessel's board, blessing it for a successful voyage, would not come because of the breakdown of her car. So, she had to be replaced by another person from the shipyard's team.

"I was excited very much, Marina Chistyakova admitted in an interview. It was only two hours left before the launch of the vessel that I learned about the fact that I was chosen a godmother of the tanker. I did not even have time to prepare mentally for this event. I have two children, and I treat the tanker as a child too. I will be surely following its fate. It is very interesting to know what awaits the tanker in future. I hope that it will be a good future!"

In the near future, the tanker will be undergoing mooring and running tests. If all goes well and equipment works well, "Dzheykhun" will head for Turkmenistan in about 20 days, "Nizhny Novgorod Worker" said.
