Uzbekistan hosts national pavilion day at Expo 2010 in Shanghai
2 September 2010, 12:26
CA-NEWS (UZ) - Uzbekistan hosted its National Pavilion Day on August 31 with a variety of activities and an evening gala at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China.

Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Elyar Ganiev and Su Bo, deputy director of China's National Development and Reform Commission, made speeches at a ceremony held at the Expo Center, reported Uzbekistan Daily.

Elyar Ganiev said Uzbekistan wanted to present its history, unique landscapes, people's hospitality and recent achievements through the World Expo.

Su Bo said the world fair offered an opportunity for China and Uzbekistan to deepen their friendly cooperation and push the bilateral relationship to a new height.

Themed "Uzbekistan: the Crossroad of Civilizations," the pavilion is covered by stacked lattice windows with colors that can change according to sunlight. Colorful ribbons and knots symbolizing the country's mixed tradition and culture connect different sections of the exhibition.

Videos and folk songs create vivid settings of Uzbekistan, a country boasting a multicultural society, prosperous economy, progress in science and technology, and harmony between urban and rural areas.
