"Red Sormovo" shipyard launches third tanker for Turkmenistan
2 September 2010, 10:36

CA-NEWS (TM) - On 31 August, Nizhny Novgorod's "Red Sormovo" shipyard launched the 140-meter-long river-sea oil tanker "Jeyhun" with deadweight of more than 7 tons. The tanker is worth US $ 17 million. It was built on the order of the State Service of Sea and River Transport of Turkmenistan.

"Dzheykhun" is the third tanker of this class built at the shipyards of the Russia's oldest shipbuilding company. The vessel was given the sing "Echo Project", which indicates the compliance with international environmental standards and high requirements for pollution prevention in emergency cases.

Earlier, "Red Sormovo" shipyard commissioned two large tankers "Sumbar" and "Khazar" for Turkmenistan capable of carrying 6 kinds of petroleum products at a time. The total cost of the order was US $ 31 million.
