Roundtable to discuss draft national labor migration strategy to take place in Dushanbe tomorrow
2 September 2010, 10:14

CA-NEWS (TJ) - A roundtable to discuss the draft national labor migration strategy of Tajikistan designed for 2010-2015 will take place in Dushanbe tomorrow on September 2.

Odil Ashourov, media officer, UNIFEM CO in Tajikistan, says the meeting will bring together representatives from the Interagency Commission for Regulation of Migration Processes under the Government of Tajikistan, Office of Tajikistan's Commissioner for Human Rights, Interior Ministry Migration Service, local public associations, international organizations active in the country and agencies dealing with employment of Tajik nationals abroad to discuss the draft national labor migration strategy and the country's external labor migration bill.

The event is expected to become a platform for representatives of civil society for discussion of the mentioned issues and expression of independent opinion so that the abovementioned documents would take into account social and individual interests of Tajik nationals.

The meeting participants plan to adopt recommendations for the government and the parliament, reported Asia-Plus.

The event is organized by the International Organization for Migration's (IOM) Mission in Tajikistan, World Bank Office in Tajikistan, UNIFEM CO in Tajikistan, DFID (UK Department For International Development) Tajikistan Office, and the NGO Human Rights Center.
