| CA-NEWS (KZ) - Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, Secretary of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabaev has held the negotiations with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon over the phone on August 31, reported the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Saudabaev thanked Ban Ki-moon for the support of Kazakhstan's initiatives and the initiatives of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev in the sphere of nuclear disarmament and for the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the resolution on declaring August 29 the International Day against Nuclear Tests. Ban Ki-moon praised the contribution of Kazakhstan to the nuclear disarmament.
Saudabayev and Ban Ki-moon agreed that special session of the UN General Assembly devoted to the International Day against Nuclear Tests scheduled for September 9 in New York would be another important step in construction of nuclear-free world, the way to which Kazakhstan showed through its example.
The interlocutors discussed the situation in Kyrgyzstan as well. They emphasized the necessity of further efforts of the world community on provision of stability and development of the country.
The sides agreed to further coordination of efforts of the OSCE and UN and send Special Representatives - Deputy Speaker of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament Kassym-Jomart Tokaev and Head of the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia Miroslav Jenca to Kyrgyzstan.
