CA-NEWS (TJ) - Tajik President Emomalii Rahmon congratulated Islam Karimov and the people of Uzbekistan with the Independence Day of the Republic.

The text of the greeting of Rahmon published on August 30 by the republican media noted that Tajikistan and Uzbekistan treasure "age-old ties of friendship and neighborliness that unite our peoples and are determined to exert all necessary efforts to harness the rich potential of mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries."

He also expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries "will continue to grow steadily".
