CA-NEWS (CA) - Secretaries General of the UNO and of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Ban Ki-moon and Nikolai Bordyuzha will sign the joint announcement about the cooperation between Secretariats of two Organizations in Moscow on Thursday, reported RIA-Novosti. Permanent chairman of the Russian Federation under the UNO Vitaliy Churkin said that the signature of the document regarding the relationship between Secretariats of two Organizations is the further step after the adoption of the resolution by the UN Assembly General regarding the UN-CSTO cooperation. The CSTO has the status of the observer under the UNO as the regional organization since 2004. Members of the Organization are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. All these countries are co-authors of the resolution. According to the resolution, the Assembly general suggest special bodies of the UNO such as the department for political questions of the Secretariat, department for drug and criminality control, contra-terrorist committee and its executive directorate to cooperate and develop direct contacts with the CSTO for the joint realization of programs directed. Moreover, the Assembly General calls the UN Secretary General to hold regular consultations with the Secretary General of the CSTO. The Assembly General notices the activity of the CSTO in such spheres as strengthening of the regional security and stability, peace keeping, prevention of terrorism, fight against drug and arms trafficking, fight against organized transnational criminality, human trafficking and fight with technogenic and natural disasters within the framework of the cooperation. Churkin noticed that one the main direction of the cooperation can be the participation of collective peace keeping forces of the CSTO, including participation under the mandate of the UN Security Council.
