ADB claims about necessity of multimodal communications between Afghanistan and its neighbors

CA-NEWS (TJ) - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) hopes that there will be created the multimodal energy and transport connection between Afghanistan and its neighbors.

Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon met with Director General of of ADB's Central and West Asia Department Juan Miranda in Dushanbe on Monday. During the meeting sides discussed conditions and perspectives of the cooperation of the ADB and Tajikistan.

During the talks sides focused on realization of projects in energy and transport spheres of regional importance and which are directed to the social and economic development of Afghanistan. Miranda said that Tajikistan plays significant role in this direction taking into account its geographical location and energy potential, according to the press service of the Tajik President.

Miranda expressed hope that here will be created the multimodal energy and transport connection between Afghanistan and its neighbors. according to the report.

Miranda informed Rakhmon about the work of the and on technical and economic assessment of hydropower stations in Tajikistan, electric lines to Afghanistan and railroads from Tajikistan to Afghanistan, Iran and Turkmenistan.

Miranda noticed that the ADB supports the energy policy of Tajikistan based on the Rogun hydropower plant. During the meeting sides also considered the anti-crisis program of Tajikistan. The ADB representative noticed that anti-crisis measures undertaken by the government and noticed that according to forecasts there will increase the speed of the economic growth of Tajikistan next year.
