CA-NEWS (KZ) - The volume of coal extraction increased 12.3% in Kazakhstan in February 2010 as compared to the corresponding period in 2009, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with reference to Kazakh Statistics Agency. According to the report, 8.355 million tons of coal were extracted in the republic in February 2010. Kazakhstan is one of the top-ten largest coal producers in the world. It holds the third position among CIS countries on storage of coal and the first position on coal production. Coal sector of the republic provides 78% of power supply in Kazakhstan.
