Japan allocated $1.5 million for the modernization of 16 hospitals in Tajikistan which are located near the Tajik-Afghan border, according to the UN press service. The World Health Organization (WHO) and French non-governmental organization "Agency for Technical cooperation and development" will realize this one-year project. Head of the WHO office in Tajikistan Santino Severoni noticed that the goal of the new project is to equip and to prepare Tajik medical centers for the rendering of the medical assistance in crisis conditions. 16 hospitals are located near the border with Afghanistan and therefore 1.2 million people including Afghan refugees will have the access to the medical treatment.
