CA-NEWS (KZ) - 80% of constructions were destroyed, 35 persons died in the result of the flood in Almaty region, Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

7 of deceased persons were children. Emergency Ministry considers that the number of deceased persons will increase.

Meanwhile, 57 persons were hospitalized to medical institutions of Taldykogran, Ministry reported. Evacuation of people from distant areas continues. Supply of fresh water and grocery products to the population which was not evacuated was organized. Also, it is planned to provide warm clothes and wood to the population.

741 persons, 112 equipment units are involved in elimination of the consequences of the disaster. Humanitarian aid is received from charity organizations and population.

Last Thursday heavy rains and melting of snow caused breakdown of the dam on Kyzyl-Agash water reservoir, which resulted in flood.

President Nursultan Nazarbaev ordered law enforcement agencies to hold a thorough investigation upon the fact and to punish those guilty, in case if the incident was the result of the negligent performance of duty and failure to complete necessary preventive works to support the dam.
