CA-NEWS (TJ) - The World Bank will prepare the technical and economic evaluation of Rogun hydropower plant in Tajikistan and will evaluate its impact on the environment, said regional World Bank director in Central Asia Motu Konishi on Wednesday. According to him, there will be involved high level experts and representatives of all countries, observing the way of these evaluations. Three years ago Tajikistan addressed to the World bank for preparation of technical-economic evaluation of Rogun plant and evaluation of its impact on the environment. Uzbekistan spoke against the realization of the project Tajik President insisted that the results of the evaluation to be presented to all neighboring countries to make sure that the project corresponds with international standards. The evaluation will take 1.5 year, according to Konishi. He said that if the results of technical-economic evaluation will prove the stability of the project, the World Bank will assist Tajikistan in the creation of international consortium for financing of the finalization of the Rogun construction. World Bank and Tajik government plan to sign the memorandum about the mutual understanding which will define the level of the involvement of the Bank in the assistance to Tajikistan in the formation of consortium, Konishi said. Tajikistan did not found international investors and started the construction by itself. During this period Tajikistan allocated $160.18 million for the financing of the project. In 2010 Tajikistan prepared $150 million. Konishi noticed that during the meeting with Emomali Rakhmon they discussed questions of the preparation of the technical-economic evaluation of CASA-1000 project which will be done by August-September 2010.
