CA-NEWS (TJ) - The European Union allocated 5 million Euro for the reduction of poverty in non-urban areas of southern and northern regions of Tajikistan.

The EU representation in Dushanbe announced the competition of project proposals under the program of reduction of poverty in non-urban areas in Khatlon and Sogd regions of Tajikistan. The representation noticed that the program focuses on Khatlon and Sogd regions due to high level of poverty and food insecurity in these regions. Projects proposals will be realized in 2010-2012.

In this regard the EU allocated 5 million Euro, according to the representation. Partners will bring additional 1 million Euro.

The program is directed to the assistance to the most sensitive communities. It is called to assist these communities in ability of gaining of income, ability of education, improvement of the situation with food security and management of natural resources, increase the level of social service and strengthen the local authorities.
