CA-NEWS (UZ) - Tajik frontier services distribute "false information on activity of State Frontier Checkpoint of Uzbekistan," governmental channel Uzbekistan reported on February 6.

There were several cases when Tajik frontier officers told drivers of the automobiles crossing the border that Uzbek checkpoint was closed on Sarosiyo checkpoint on Uzbek-Tajik border, channel reported. Tajik officers did not allow foreigners to cross the border under this pretence. In the result the jam forms on Tajik checkpoint, which causes discontent of foreign citizens.

At the same time Uzbek side did not close its checkpoint, Uzbek Customs Committee representative reported.

Uzbek officers wonder if Tajik law enforcement agencies and customs service are aware that distribution of such information contradicts bilateral and multilateral relations between the countries, message stated.

Uzbek side hopes that World Customs Organization and other international organizations will assist in resolving the issue.
